Are you worried about dropping your phone and cracking it? Have you ever lost a phone due to water damage? HMD Global‘s new rugged phone, the Nokia XR20 has been launched in India as expected. The phone is drop-resistant, water-resistant, scratch-resistant and temperature resistant.
The device is made with Polymer composite material and Aluminum, while the screen has Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. It supports Wet Hands and Gloves, so you can use it in the rain and snow too.
The Nokia XR20 has an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, and passed the MIL-STD-810H military standard. It can survive drops up to 1.8m, or even withstand up to 1.5m water for over an hour.
The handset is equipped with a 6.67 inches Full HD+ LCD 2400 x 1080 pixels screen with an 20:9 Aspect Ratio, and 550 nits brightness. The selfie camera at the top of the screen is an 8 megapixels lens. The XR20 runs on Android 11, and Nokia promises to support the device until 2025, during which it will offer 3 years of OS upgrades and 4 years of monthly security updates. The phone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 5G processor with an Adreno 619 GPU. It is available in a single variant, that has 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage. It has a microSD card slot that supports up to 512GB of additional memory.
The device has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication. It has a button at the top that you can program to use a shortcut of your choice, and a dedicated Google Assistant button.
The Nokia XR20 two cameras on the back panel, the primary of which is a 48 MP Samsung GM1st sensor with an f/1.79 aperture, 1/2.25 sensor size, 0.8µm pixel size. The secondary camera is a 13 megapixels Ultra-wide angle lens with a Samsung ISOCELL 3L6 sensor, an f2.4 aperture, FF, 1/3” sensor size, 1.12 µm pixel size, 123° FoV. The phone has two flash modules to complement the symmetrical X shaped camera array. The device packs a 4630 mAh battery with 18W wired fast charging (Quick Charge 4.0) over a USB Type-C 3.0 port. It also supports 15W Qi wireless charging.
The XR20 has a 3.5mm headphone jack, Stereo Speakers with support for OZO Playback and spatial audio. The device is not lightweight at 248g, and sums up to 10.64 x 171.64 x 81.5mm in terms of dimensions.
Network options on the phone include 5G and 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax-ready, Wi-Fi dual-band (2.4GHz + 5.0GHz), 2×2 MiMo, Blueooth 5.1, NFC, USB OTG, GPS/A-GPS, Galileo, GLONASS/A-GLONASS, Beidou, QZSS, and NavIC. The phone has an Accelerometer (G-sensor), Ambient light sensor, Barometer, e-Compass, Gyroscope, Proximity sensor.

Nokia XR20 expected price in India
HMD Global has priced the Nokia XR20 at Rs. 46,999 in India. The phone will be available for pre-order from October 20th on Nokia India’s website, and comes in 2 colourways: Ultra Blue and Granite.
