OnePlus turned a lot of heads when it announced that the launch of the OnePlus 2 will be done through virtual reality.
Many people thought it was unconventional and quite frankly, rather bizarre.
But the company said that by launching the phone in VR, users will be able to experience the feeling of being present during the event. And it went to the extent of selling the OnePlus Cardboard VR headset, so people could enjoy the event. But not everyone has access to a VR headset, and the recent sale of the OnePlus Cardboard, was nothing short of a fiasco, thanks to limited units which resulted in the cancellation of several orders.
And the company only made things worse, by publicly announcing that the OnePlus Cardboard will not be available in India again.
In a bid to cool down things, OnePlus announced today, that the OnePlus 2 launch event will be watchable, even without a Cardboard. The company says it will include a “Cardboard-free 360 experience” in the app, which will be released, to watch the event. The announcement says that, “It won’t be as immersive, but it will still be interactive and amazing.”
The OnePlus 2 is launching on July 27th, but in IST, the launch takes place at 7:30 AM on July 28th.
