Update: It appears that the Invite image quoted by GSMArena was not a genuine one and is Fake, which means there is no OnePlus 5T coming. At least for now.
Last year in November, OnePlus launched OnePlus 3T which is an upgrade to their flagship device onePlus 3. It’s almost one year since OnePlus 3T was launched and it seems that company is ready with a similar upgrade device for existing flagship OnePlus 5 in the form of OnePlus 5T. The company has started sending out Media Invites for a launch event in China scheduled for November 5 which includes an image showing a smartphone with “T” in the middle of the device, confirming the name as OnePlus 5T indirectly.
The Media Invite also reveals a bezel-less display on both the sides, while negligible bezels at top & bottom, clearly suggesting an 18:9 kind of display for OnePlus 5T. Looking at the size of the phone in the image and considering the 18:9 display, we can expect a 6.0-inch display for the upcoming device.
The signs of an imminent launch of a new device from OnePlus were already visible as the stocks of OnePlus 5 have disappeared and gone out of stock across the world (except India, where it’s peak Deepawali festival season currently), which suggests that the existing device may be discontinued and a new one is coming soon.
At the moment, we have no clue on the hardware specifications of OnePlus 5T except the possibility of a bigger 18:9 display. Considering the fact that OnePlus 3T was an upgrade over the existing flagship, we can expect similar hardware specifications for 5T with a minor upgrade over OnePlus 5.
