OnePlus is prepping to announce a new phone in the Nord series. The OnePlus Nord CE 5G is set to launch on June 10th in India.
The news comes via a report by Android Central, which attended a media roundtable with Pete LAu, the CEO of OnePlus. The OnePlus executive acknowledged that its flagship phones in India are not as affordable as the OnePlus One was, and that the Nord series will cater for the mid-range market.
Lau says that the company saw a rise in sales after the introduction of the Nord phones in India. The OnePlus Nord CE 5G is expected to be priced below Rs. 30,000.
Rumours suggest that the upcoming mid-range device will boast cameras similar to the OnePlus 9 series. Could this mean we could see the same Hasselbalad lenses on a more affordable device? Only time will tell the answer.
Many users have been concerned about OnePlus’ decision to ship their devices with ColorOS in China. However, Lau has reaffirmed that OnePlus phones sold wordlwide will run on OxygenOS as usual.
OnePlus has drawn criticism for supporting just one 5G band in its flagship series, so we’ll need to wait and see how the OnePlus Nord CE 5G fares. A listing on Amazon India teases a new launch from the company, and the timing is no coincidence, it is no doubt promoting the Nord CE 5G.
