The OnePlus One 64GB was sold on a discounted price yesterday, for Rs. 19,998.
But soon after the 24-hour timer expired, the Amazon India listing said that the OnePlus One 64GB variant is currently unavailable in India.
The 16GB OnePlus One is still available and is selling for Rs. 18,998.
So, what’s in store for the OnePlus One in India? Here is our speculation:
1. For starters, the OnePlus 64GB Sandstone Black variant no longer appears in the search results on Amazon India.
If you access it through the 16GB variant’s link, it shows that the 64GB variant is unavailable. I added the phone to my cart before the promotional sale expired, but it now says the phone’s price has increased from Rs. 19,998 to Rs. 21,998. But it could just be a placeholder price system, which products use to revert to their original pre-sale price.
2 . OnePlus could start promoting a price cut for the 16GB Silk White variant, to compete with its biggest rival, the Xiaomi Mi 4 16GB, which is available for just Rs. 14,999 (you can get up to Rs. 5,000 off on exchange of your old phone. Refer the T & C at Flipkart)
3. OnePlus One may have run out of stock in India. Zauba’s import records show that the OnePlus One’s last stocks came in to India well over a month ago.
4. OnePlus may start selling the phone on Flipkart, as we reported yesterday. By not making the 64GB available at Amazon India, the company could well promote the sales at its new retail partner’s website.
5. OnePlus may also make the price cut permanent, in India. The company did so, last week for the phones sold at its International Store. So, it may be trying to avoid selling the phone at its original price in India, until the official announcement is made.
