OnePlus turns One. No this isn’t a joke about the phone, the company is celebrating it’s 1st birthday on April 23.
And it is celebrating it in style, by bidding farewell to the invite system for the OnePlus One.
You’re invited! Is this what the company was teasing fans about?
That’s certainly going to disappoint a lot of fans, including Yours Truly. Seriously? This is how you play with our imagination?
Anyway, back to reality now. OnePlus has announced that it is dropping the invite system required to buy the One permanently. Yes, you read that right. The OnePlus One is globally available without invites, buy it any time you want. India, Indonesia , Singapore? Doesn’t matter where you live. No more waiting for special Open Sales or Tuesday Open Sales.
Why is it doing this? There could be several reasons. For starters, it could be announcing the OnePlus Two soon, so users would prefer to buy that over the One. Secondly, the One has sold over a million units. Getting an invite isn’t as hard as it used to be, so they will have plenty of stocks too. Lastly, we believe that the company could be having a ton of units in its inventory.
OnePlus also shed some light about the OnePlus Two in that the Two will be launched with an invite system. To deal with supply-demand chain.
And the company is also offering discounts on accessories for the One in USA/Canada, Europe, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Offers include 75% discount on OnePlus Flip Covers and Premium Screen Protectors and Bamboo StyleSwap covers will now be available without an invite (while supplies last). This offer is valid for 24 hours only.
