OnePlus India has announced some great news for its users in the Country.
The company has revealed that the legal dispute involving OnePlus, Cyanogen and Micromax has come to an end.
Back in December, the OnePlus One was launched in india, with the popular custom ROM, CyanogenMod. But barely days after the launch, Micromax slapped OnePlus with a case, which saw the phone banned temporarily in India. The reason was, Micromax had agreed on an exclusivity agreement with Cyanogen, and claimed that OnePlus had infringed the deal.
The ban was however quickly dismissed by the Court, and the OnePlus One has flourished ever since in India. Today, OnePlus announced that the case has been closed, and that Cyanogen will continue supporting the OnePlus One in India.
This is what Vikas Manager, the General Manager of OnePlus India had to stay:
“OnePlus remains vindicated of the recent trials and tribulations that has surrounded the company due to legal tussle with Micromax over exclusivity on CyanogenOS. We are happy to confirm that all ‘OnePlus One’ users in India will continue to receive OTA updates from Cyanogen in-line with our users in markets around of the world.”
This is a great victory for OnePlus indeed, and a slap in the face for Cyanogen, which has been making some very controversial decisions of late, including moving away from Google Apps and Services, and even a ridiculous claim that it will take Android away from Google itself.
