OnePlus officially unveiled its 2016 flagship killer, the Oneplus 2, and it’s incredibly affordable pricing yesterday.
But the phone’s predecessor also wants to make it to the headlines.
In an interview with Business Today, the General Manager of OnePlus India, Vikas Agarwal revealed that a price cut for the Oneplus One will be announced soon in the country.
When questioned about the OnePlus One, and whether one of the two storage variants will be discontinued, this is what Agarwal said:
No, we will not discontinue any model and will continue to sell both the variants. With the launch of OnePlus 2, we now have three devices in our portfolio. We are working on the price drop for OnePlus One and shall announce a price cut in the coming days.
The three devices he referred to are the OnePlus One 16GB which retails for Rs. 18,998, the OnePlus One 64GB which retails for Rs. 21,998 and the OnePlus 2 64GB which has been priced at Rs. 24,999. The 16GB variant of the newer model which has been priced at Rs. 22,999, will be made available later this year.
Previously, the OnePlus One 64GB has had its price cut by Rs. 2,000 for a few days, on two occassions, once on Amazon and once on Flipkart. From this, we can speculate that the OnePlus One 64GB may get a similar and permanent price cut and will be available for Rs. 19,998, or even lower, to compete with the Xiaomi Mi4 64GB which retails for Rs. 17,999.
