The OxygenOS 12 update for OnePlus 7 and 7T series is rolling out to users. The flagship phones, that were launched in 2019, came with Android 9 out of the box, which makes this the third major OS upgrade for the devices.
OxygenOS 12 update for OnePlus 7 and 7T series
It is good to see the mobiles getting the Android 12 update, even though it arrives quite late. As you may remember, Google announced Android 12 over 8 months ago, in 2021.
The new firmware includes various features such as Work-Life Balance that lets you switch between the profiles from the Quick Settings. The new Canvas Always-On Display (Canvas AOD) supports various styles of lines and colors for a personalized lock screen experience. The gallery app supports 2-finger pinch gesture, and can recognize the best quality pictures automatically. It crops thumbnails based on the picture’s contents.
The OxygenOS 12 update for OnePlus 7 and 7T series also brings an improved Shelf, a new Smart Battery engine, Dark mode with three adjustable levels, and more.
Interestingly, the OxygenOS 12 update does not include the latest security patches for the OnePlus 7 phones. XDA reports that the update ships with the August 2022 Security Patch from Google.
The version number of the Oxygen OS 12 update for the OnePlus 7 series are as follows:
- OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro – GM1911_11.H.28
- OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro – HD1901_11.F.16
According to reports from users at the OnePlus community forums, the firmware seems to be rolling out to users in India. It is unclear when it will be released for users in Europe and North America.
