OnePlus has announced an OxygenOS Open Beta for OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro. This is the first time that these phones are getting an open beta.
The new firmware consists mostly of bug fixes, but also brings a new feature to the devices.
What’s new in the OxygenOS Open Beta for OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro?
The Open Beta 1 update optimizes the RAM management on the phones. The Ambient display and lock screen now offer better performance when you single tap or double tap.
The contact details screen in the phone app has been enhanced. The Gallery app should no longer have any issues with the audio and video when preloading videos. The settings page has improved content. The update brings the February Android Security patch to the devices.
There is a new option in the OxygenOS Open Beta for OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro, called Live Caption. This feature detects speech in media (videos) and automatically provides captions for the dialogue.
You can enable this by navigating to Settings > System > Accessibility > Live Caption, or from the Volume toggle. OnePlus says that Live Caption maybe useful when you want to watch videos in noisy environments.
User reports indicate that the update preserves Widevine L1 DRM, McLaren variant specials, etc. Some users also say that they have had success with downloading the new version from the Oxygen Updater app.
