Mobile chipset maker, Qualcomm, has announced two new SoCs, the Snapdragon 430 and the Snapdragon 617.
Both will cater to mid-range devices, with the former being a budget friendly target.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 technical specifications:
The SD 430 integrates X6 LTE with support for Cat 4 which has a maximum download speed of 150 Mbps, and Cat 5 upload speed of 75 Mbps, and 2x20MHz carrier aggregation. The chipset adds support for Full HD 1080p displays, as well as the same resolution for recording videos and playback.
The SoC comes with dual Image Signal Processors, which is compatible cameras up to 21-megapixels in resolution. The SD 430 is expected to power phones in 2016, and is the first mid ranger to come with the newest GPU, Qualcomm Adreno 505.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 technical specifications:
The SD 617 integrates X8 LTE with support for Cat 7 which has a maximum download speed of 300 Mbps, and a maximum upload speed of 100 Mbps, and 2x20MHz carrier aggregation. The 617 SoC also comes with dual Image Signal Processors, supporting cameres up to 21-megapixels in resolution.
The Snapdragon 617’s processor has 8 cores (octa-core) of Cortex A53s, which can clock up to 1.5GHz speeds, and is backed up by an Adreno 405 GPU. The Snapdragon 617 is expected to be powering phones by the end of 2015.
Quick Charge 3.0:
The Snapdragon 430 and Snapdragon 617 are the first SoCs to come with support for the new Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0, whuch is touted to have 4 times the charging speeds of the regular USB charging capabilities.
