The Razer Phone 2 is official, along with a couple of accessories. Smartphone gamers, rejoice.
The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Nova Launcher Prime pre-installed, and sports a 5.72-inch QHD IGZO LCD display, with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, with a traditional aspect-ratio of 16:9. The Razer Phone 2 continues the trend set by the original with a 120Hz refresh rate for the display, which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
The Razer Phone 2 is powered by a 2.80GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, with an Adreno 630 GPU, and is aided by Vapor Chamber Cooling. The device has 8GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, with a microSD card slot which supports up to 1TB of expandable memory.
Despite being a gaming phone, the Razer Phone 2 does not compromise on other functionalities such as the rear cameras, which now have dual lenses. The cameras comprise of a 12MP primary camera with an f/1.75 aperture, which supports Optical Image Stabilization, and a 12MP Telephoto lens with an f/2.6 aperture. The cameras support Dual Phase Detection AutoFocus, Dual LED Flash, and are capable of 4K video recording. The selfie lens is an 8MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture, and supports 1080p video recording.
The reason the Razer Phone 2 has an outdated screen aspect ratio, is to make room for the Stereo front-facing speakers, which have Dual Amplifiers that support Dolby Atmos. Unfortunately, the Razer Phone 2 does not have a 3.5mm headphone jack, and relies on a USB Type-C port, but you can buy an adapter that has a 24-bit DAC.
A 4000 mAh battery backs the Razer Phone 2, which supports Quick Charge 4.0+ and Wireless Fast Charging. The Razer Chroma logo on the back panel is RGB illuminated. The phone is IP67 rated for dust and water resistance.
