Update 2: As it turns out, the leaks about Snapdragon 450 powering the Realme 2 were right. Read more about it here.
Update: Here is an update coming from Ash of C4ETech, which indicates that the leak isn’t true:
Realme just reached out to me and informed this is fake! Hmm https://t.co/5O1vkf0DB8

Original Story
The successor to Realme 1 is set to officially launch in few days on August 28 at a launch event in New Delhi as Realme 2. Realme started as a sub-brand of Oppo but got separated an independent entity later. Realme 1 managed to gain some traction thanks to decent hardware and design priced as affordable smartphones. Realme 2 is expected to continue that tradition with decent hardware at an affordable price, but it seems that the upcoming Realme 2 may come with toned down hardware compared to Realme 1.
A leak from Smartprix reveals all the hardware specifications of Realme 2 (Androidpure can’t verify the authenticity though). The specification sheet indicates that Realme 2 is powered by 1.8GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor (As we suspected) which can be considered as a downgrade over earlier Mediatek Helio P60. The specs sheet also indicate two variants of the device i.e. 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM and 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM, with MicroSD card support up to 256GB. The first generation of Realme came with a 6GB RAM variant also and we expect a similar variant here, though the specs sheet doesn’t confirm that.
To be honest, the specs sheet looks exactly like the Oppo A5 which got officially launched in India Today.
It also indicates that Realme 2 features a 6.2-inch HD+ 19:9 display with 720 x 1520 pixel resolution with a pixel density of 271ppi. Here once again, we expected at least a Full HD+ display instead of 720p HD+ display. It runs on Color OS 5.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system. In terms of camera, it features a dual camera module at rear with a 13MP primary sensor and 2MP secondary sensor while on the front, it features an 8MP snapper with Bokeh Mode for selfies & video calls.
Other features include Face unlock, Fingerprint sensor at rear and smart lock. In terms of connectivity, it comes with support for dual 4G VoLTE Sim slots. The phone is backed by a 4230 mAh battery. In terms of dimensions, it measures 156.2 x 75.6 x 8.2 mm and weighs 168 grams. Realme has already confirmed most of these specifications with teasers, yet Snapdragon 450 may turn out to be the biggest disappointment to many consumers.
Update: Here is another confirmation of Snapdragon 450. (Again we hope that we are wrong)
As with any other leak, take this with a pinch of salt. Stay tuned at Androidpure and we will keep you updated.
