A Realme 2 Pro benchmark has been leaked online, and the results show surprising results. The device seems to be powered by an underclocked Snapdragon 660 processor.
Tech savvy users may be aware that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 and Snapdragon 636 processors aren’t too different. They have the same number of cores, with only the clock speed frequency being the major difference.
In essence, a Snapdragon 636 is kind of an underclocked Snapdragon 660 chipset, also known as a lower binned 660. Here is a CPU-Z screenshot taken on an ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M1, which has a Snapdragon 636. The app reads it as a Snapdragon 660 clocked at 1.80 GHz, but then lists the model as the Snapdragon 636.
Realme 2 Pro benchmark leak: Snapdragon 660 or an overclocked Snapdragon 636 ?
Compare that with the Realme 2 Pro benchmark, and you will see most details are the same, except for the current clock speeds (caused by the load on the processor). But, you may have noticed that unlike the regular Snapdragon 660, which is usually clocked at about 2.20 GHz or higher, the Realme 2 Pro has a processor which is clocked at 1.96GHz. So, is it an underclocked Snapdragon 660 or an overclocked Snapdragon 636?.
Let’s take a look at the leaked Realme 2 Pro benchmark on AnTuTu.The Realme 2 Pro AnTuTu score was 133963 points, which is actually higher than the 6GB Mi A2 benchmark score of 128658, but lower than the 8GB Nokia 7 Plus benchmark score of 139583 points.
So, why are the scores differing? Out of curiosity we checked Geekbench for the scores of various devices. The Mi A2 and the Nokia 7 Plus have been benchmarked at 1.84 GHz, though they are advertised to have a clock-speed of 2.2 GHz.
Keeping that in mind and considering the fact that the Realme 2 Pro is clocked at 1.96 GHz, the benchmark score which it achieved seems mighty impressive. We still can’t say for sure whether this is an actual Snapdragon 660 or an overclocked Snapdragon 636.
The Realme 2 Pro benchmark also shows that the phone has a 6.29-inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels, and 409 DPI. The device has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
The Realme 2 Pro India launch date is set for September 27th, i.e., tomorrow, and will be sold via Flipkart.
