Earlier we reported about Realme 64MP camera phone teased officially by Realme CEO and is set to officially launch in India first. Realme CEO shared an image on twitter shot by the 64MP quad camera phone which confirms few details about the phone camera sensor (Samsung GW1) as detailed later in this post. In addition to that image, Realme China handle of Realme shared an image which appears to be the first look at the upcoming Realme 64MP quad camera phone and we can see four camera sensors aligned vertically on the left side of rear panel.
The image doesn’t reveal the details of the other camera sensors except for the primary one i.e. Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor having an aperture of f1/1.72. We still do not know any other details of the device.

Realme 64MP camera phone sample photo teased; new quad camera phone to be released in India
Realme’s CEO Madhav Seth took to Twitter to tease a camera sample photo. This wasn’t taken with your average phone, it’s from a Realme 64MP camera phone.
You read it correctly. Has the 48MP camera resolution been superseded already? No, of course not, just because a technology is introduced doesn’t mean the old one is obsolete. 48MP will be the future for quite a while, but this new 64MP sensor is definitely interesting.
According to the branding in the photo, the Realme 64MP camera phone will have quad cameras. The tech specs of the other lenses in the 4 camera setup remain a mystery. The branding also says that the camera is AI-powered.
What it means is that the device uses interpolation to produce a 64MP resolution picture. Here’s why we say that. Madhav’s Tweet sheds some further light on the sensor, he mentioned that it is a 64MP GW1 lens, which has a 1/1.72″ sensor.
This is no doubt the Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor, which the South Korean electronics giant unveiled in March 2019. It has a 0.8 μm image sensor and uses Tetra cell 2 x 2 pixel-binning technology to merge 4-pixels into 1. It has a 4 x 4 sub-pixel arrangement, to create 16MP photos. This is what the sensor re-creates as a 64MP image.
Madhav also mentioned that the Realme 64MP camera phone would be launched first in India, before anywhere else. There is no launch date for the device yet, but it may not be long before it is made official.
We speculate that Realme could be prepping the device as a budget flagship phone, to take on the Redmi K20, which is set to be launched next month in India.
