Earlier today, we reported that Mi India may be slashing the price of the Redmi 2 in the country, tomorrow.
But Xiaomi has already slashed the price of the phone, in its home country, China.
Prior to the price drop, the Redmi 2 was retailing for 699 Yuan, which is approximately Rs. 7,000. The phone’s price has dropped by 100 Yuan, about Rs. 1,000. This effectively brings the price of the Redmi 2 to 599 Yuan, which is about Rs. 6,000.
This is the same price, which we reported earlier today, and is expected to be announced by Mi India tomorrow at 10 AM.
Xiaomi is reportedly slashing the prices to meet its sales target of 80 to 100 Million phones this year. We are in the second half of 2015, and it is said that the company has failed to meet even half of the target.
