Xiaomi has begun teasing a new device launch in India.
And the words which accompanied the above image on Twitter were, “Prime is coming with pixel perfect display!”
We are speculating that the device will be launched on December 15th, as the screen in the above image shows the same date.
So, it is likely that the company is launching the Redmi Note 2 rime in India. But there is a small issue at hand. Last year, Xiaomi feuded with Ericsson on some patent infringements, which resulted in the Delhi High Court banning all of the Chinese OEMs MediaTek powered devices, from being sold in the Country.
Now, the Redmi Note 2 Prime, which was launched in August in China, is powered by a MediaTek MTK Helio X10 Flagship Processor. Assuming the ban still holds, it is unlikely that the device which will be launched will be powered by a MediaTek Soc, and instead it could come with a Qualcomm one.
Since the Redmi 1S and Redmi Note both used Snapdragon 400 chipsets, and the Redmi 2 uses a Snapdragon 410, we think that the Indian variant of the Redmi Note 2 Prime could also feature a Snapdragon 410. This logic is further solidified by the fact that the company’s Xiaomi Mi4i uses a Snapdragon 615 chipset.
The device is likely to be priced around Rs. 10000, as the Chinese variant is priced at RMB 999.
