JioTV is one of the most popular apps in India if you wanted to watch Live TV on your smartphone though it needs an active Reliance Jio SIM on your smartphone. Till today, JioTV app was only available on Android / iOS devices but not PC / Mac though there are workarounds available using which you can use it on PC/Mac by simulating the Android OS using applications such as Bluestack.
Today, the company has quietly made available JIOTV on any web browser and you can access it at http://jiotv.com, though you still need to sign in using your active JIO credentials. Just log in using your active Jio Credentials and you are good to go. You can watch all the content and 550+ live TV channels (except the channels that need Hotstar such as Star Sports channels & entertainment channels ) that were earlier available only on the Android / iOS devices.
In terms of the web interface, it looks quite similar to what we have seen on the mobile app.It lets you choose all the HD channels or select them based on the language or the category of the content. Just click on the Channel logo and the live content is streamed live in your web browser. The web version also lets you watch the previous seven days content from most of the channels just as on the mobile termed as ‘Catch-Up TV’.
It may still be under testing phase and even though the JioTV mobile app lets you watch the Live TV channels only if you are using the active JIO SIM on the device, we managed to watch the Live TV channels on our Mac Chrome browser on our Wifi broadband connection without using the Jio Network (we did use Jio credentials to sign in though). At the moment we are not sure if the company will keep this feature for how much time as it’s blocked on mobile apps.
