Samsung is rolling out the Android 12 Update for Galaxy M31 for users in India. The mid-range phone had been announced in 2020 with One UI 2 based on Android 10.
Since then, the 4G mobile has received a major OS update to One UI 3 based on Android 11, which makes the latest update its 2nd major one.
What’s new in the Android 12 Update for Galaxy M31
The firmware is based on One UI 4.1, and has the version number M315FXXU2CVCE. It brings the March 2022 Security Patch to the phone. It brings redesigned widgets and apps for the Samsung Internet browser, Camera, Gallery, Keyboard, Bixby, etc.
The update ships with new goodies from Android 12 such as new system-wide colors (similar to Material You), a better Dark Mode. It has new privacy indicators that tell you when an app is accessing your camera, microphone and location. The update introduces new privacy options to control the camera and mic from the quick toggles panel. Samsung has improved the Always-On Display mode, and the overall design of the operating system’s interface.
It is being seeded in phases, and will reach more users gradually. If you have not received a notification for the update, head over to the Settings > Software Update page, and tap on the Download and Install button, to see if the OTA is available for you. Users at the Samsung community forums have reported that the Android 12 Update for Galaxy M31 is about 2.1GB in size (2140MB) to download.
This is likely the last major OS update for the Galaxy M31.
