Samsung launched their Galaxy A5 (2016) smartphones in December 2015 with some variants of the device powered by Exynos 7580 SoC (including the one sold in India) and other variants powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon. Both the variants came with 2 GB of RAM. Now, a new Galaxy A5 is spotted on bench-marking portal Geekbench with an upgraded SOC and RAM.
This new variant may be the 2017 edition of the Samsung Galaxy A5 with model number SM-A520F. The earlier Galaxy A5 variants came with Model number A5 2015 (SM-A500F) in December 2014, followed by the Galaxy A5 2016 (SM-A510F) December 2015. Based on timing of last two year launches, Galaxy A5 2017 may be launched in December 2016.
As per Geekbench, Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 SM-A520F is powered by 1.87 GHz Octa-core Samsung Exynos 7880 processor and 3 GB of RAM (2015 variant came with just 2 GB of RAM). It runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow based operating system. The device scores 817 under single core test and 4692 under multi-core.
At the moment, Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) sports a 5.2 inch full HD display and is powered by Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 / Exynos 7580 Octa-core processor with 2 GB of RAM. It comes with 16 GB of internal storage and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop based operating system. In terms of camera, it sports a 13 MP main rear camera and a 5 MP front shooter for selfies. It is backed by a non-removable Li-Ion 2900 mAh battery.
