Two months after launching the phablet, Samsung has officially confirmed that the Galaxy Note 7 has been permanently discontinued. The decision by the company comes after multiple incidents where the phone caught fire or exploded, which resulted in two recalls.
This is what the company had to say, in a statement released to the press, in South Korea.
Taking our customer’s safety as our highest priority, we have decided to halt sales and production of the Galaxy Note 7.”
The discontinuation in the production of the Note 7, was also reportedly taken after the phablet’s name was tarnished by the fires it caused, and the innumerable news publications, which reported them. This has led to people fearing that the device may blow up or catch fire, when they are using it. Samsung is reported to have lost 17 Billion in USD, because of the controversial device.
