Samsung has officially announced the successors to the Galaxy S Tabs.
The new devices are the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 and they come in two display variants.
There is a 9.7″ display variant, and an 8.0″ device. The display on both tablets are Super AMOLED and support QHD (2048×1536 pixels).
Both devices run on Android 5.0 Lollipop, and are powered by an octa-core Samsung Exynos 5433 processor (4x Cortex A57 @ 1.9GHz and 4x Cortex A53 @ 1.3GHz), 3GB of RAM, and a Mali T760MP6 GPU clocked at 700MHz.
The tablets come in 32/64GB storage variants with support for 128GB via expandable memory. The Tab S2 sports an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 2.1 megapixel front camera.
In terms of connectivity, the devices support Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, GLONASS, microUSB 2.0 and LTE (optional). The tablets also have a variety of sensors including a Fingerprint Scanner, Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Compass, Hall Sensor, RGB Sensor.
The bigger tablet is backed by a 5870mAh battery, and measures 169 x 237.3 x 5.6mm, and weighs 389g. The Tab S2 8.0 measures 134.8 x 198.6 x 5.6mm, weighs 265g and is backed by a 4000mAh battery.
