A few Samsung Infinity Display patents have been spotted, and they indicate that the South Korean company could be working on three display variants, including one for a foldable screen tech. It could be for three phones.
The patents which Samsung has registered with the (USPTO) United States Patent and Trademark Office, are the Infinity-Flex, Infinity-O and Infinity-U.
The Infinity Display term was used by Samsung, when it launched the Galaxy S8 in 2017, with an edge-to-edge screen, with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The display has also been used in the latest flagship devices, as well as in the Galaxy A series devices.
Samsung Infinity Display variants
Rumour has it that the F in the Infinity-Flex display patent, stands for fold, or foldable. It is probably related to the Samsung Galaxy F, which has a foldable screen. The device could be launched this week. Samsung has posted a teaser image on its Facebook page, which is the picture you see above. The Galaxy F is expected to be launched on November 7th.
What the Infinity-O and Infinity-U are for, is unclear at this moment. Infinity-O could be something related to OLED displays, while Infinity-U could mean the phone has an Ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. They could be a hint that there maybe three Samsung Galaxy S10 variants.
