SEGA have pulled a fast one today, quite literally.
Their popular racing game, Sonic & All Star Racing Transformed, has been permanently made free to play at the Google Play Store.
This is one of the best Kart Racers on Android, granted that it really doesn’t have much competitors. Unless you count Angry Birds Go! And that is a big NO.
Sonic All Star Racing has 10 racers, and lets you race on land, sea & air. The game also has various new power-ups which you can use whilst you race. Oh! by the way, avoid the hazards. Game modes include a World Tour, Daily and Weekly Challenges. You can also take part in multiplayer races, featuring upto 4 players simultaneously.
There are two control schemes, a touch based one and a gyroscape based tilt control option. If you have a gamepad controller you can use that to race. Vrooom!
Pocket Gamer reports that SEGA will not abandon the game, and in fact, they are planning to release an update on April 29th. The update will feature two unlockable characters, Wreck-It Ralph and Metal Sonic, and two new tracks, The Beachfront Resort from OutRun Bay and an asteroid-filled Galactic Parade track. A Boss Cup Challenge will aslo be included in the update.
