Sony has already sent out press invites for its event at MWC 2017 in Barcelona on February 27 at 1.00pm IST (8.30am CET) and is expected to announce its next generation Xperia smartphones. Till today we have no clue on what the company is planning to launch, but a new leak today gives us a detailed sneak peek of what to expect during the Sony event at MWC 2017. As per this new leak, five new Xperia smartphones would be announced including a new flagship device powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835. The leak includes Code names and brief technical specifications of these devices are leaked.
Xperia “Yoshino”
This is the alleged flagship xperia device which sports a 5.5 inch 4K display and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SOC along with 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM. It features a new IMX400 camera sensor for the main camera. At the moment, Samsung Galaxy S8 is rumored to be the first flagship device powered by Snapdragon 835 and even LG G6 is rumored to be powered by Snapdragon 821 instead of SD 835 due to non-availability of SD835. So it appears that Sony has managed to get rid of so-called availability issues of SD 835, if this leak is genuine.
Apart from the flagship, Sony plan to announce four more smartphones at the MWC event which are as follows:
- Xperia “BlancBright” – It sports a 5 inch WQHD display and is powered by Snapdragon 653 chipset along with 4 GB of RAM and includes the IMX400 camera sensor.
- Xperia “Keyaki” – It sports a 5.2 inch FHD display, powered by Mediatek Helio P20 chipset along with 4 GB of RAM & 64 GB of internal storage. It features a 23 MP main rear camera and 16 MP front shooter for selfies.
- Xperia “Hinoki” – It sports a 5 inch HD display, powered by Mediatek Helio P20 chipset along with 3 GB of RAM & 32 GB of internal storage. It features a 16 MP main rear camera and 8 MP front shooter for selfies.
- Xperia “Mineo” – the technical specifications of this device is unknown at the moment, but will cost US $ 350.
