Android One devices from manufacturers in India are expected to be unveiled on September 15 during an event hosted by Google in India. Manufacturers which are part of this Android One program from Google include Spice, Micromax and Karbonn. But much before the actual unveiling or official announcement from Google, one of the Android One devices from Google is already listed on Flipkart and is already available for sale with a shipping date of 18th September.
The listing page at Flipkart provides full details of Hardware specifications of Spice Dream UNO Mi-498 along with smartphone images. The listing shows that Android one Smartphone from Spice is priced at INR 6,999. The device sports a 4.5-inch FWVGA display and is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor supported by 1GB of RAM.
In terms of Storage it comes with just 4GB of internal storage but with support for microSD card. In terms of camera, it comes with a 5MP rear camera with LED flash, and 2MP front camera.
The device will be powered by latest version of Android i.e Android 4.4.4 Kitkat and comes with dual SIM card support.
In terms of battery, the device is powered by 1700 mAh capacity of battery.
Our Opinion
To be honest, we are disappointed with the specs and the pricing ( considering that this is the final specs and pricing). It could have been a better device is it came with at least 8 GB of internal memory with a Qualcom Processor 210 instead of Mediatek CPU. The pricing too looks bad considering the fact that Xiaomi is selling like hot cakes even though the supply of that device is unable to meet the demand.
Flipkart Exlusive
We now also know that Spice will be selling Android One device exclusively on Flipkart only.
Update:
Flipkart just pulled off the Spice Dream UNO Mi-498 listing from its web portal (Glad that we got the screenshots before that).
