Super Mario Run is a new 2D side-scrolling endless runner game, which was announced by Nintendo for Apple iOS yesterday, during the keynote at the iPhone 7 launch event.
No Android release? As Joey Tribbiani would say “This a-time it’s a-personal.” No, we don’t believe in the whole iOS vs Android thing. True geeks love all technology, and even Google’s former CEO Eric Schmidt reportedly uses an iPhone (as his secondary device).
And we are sure many of you do have iPhones and iPads. So, Nintendo choosing to go Apple-exclusive (temporarily) is not a bad thing. They are not ignoring Android users anyway. Ever heard of a little something called Pokémon Go? Of course you do, and it’s available for Android and iOS. So it’s only a matter of time before Super Mario “runs” on to Android, and he will.
Gaming blog Kotaku questioned Nintendo about Super Mario Run for Android,to which the gaming giant replied:
“We do intend to release the game on Android devices at some point in the future.”
According to the announcement, Super Mario Run will be a premium game with three modes: One with challenging courses (like the one in the video below), another mode where you can play courses completed by other players, and Mushroom Kingdom mode which lets you create your own world with coins you collected from the other two modes.
The game will have In-App Purchases, we are not sure what it will be for, but our best guess is for “coins”.

Nintendo says that Super Mario Run will be available in December 2016, for iPhones and iPads. So, we can probably expect an Android version of Super Mario Run on Google Play, in 2017.
