TweetDeck have announced the official date when their Android app will stop working.
TweetDeck was acquired by Twitter in 2011, and ever since it has gone downhill. But now it will soon go poof.Twitter drew a lot of flak from TweetDeck users when they removed the service’s Long tweets, aka deck.ly posting in September 2011.
And then the social network giant announced that they are retiring version 1.0 of Twitter’s API, which means all apps using the old API would not work. That includes TweetDeck for Android, iPhone and even the Adobe AIR based version for Windows.
Coming to TweetDeck’s official end-of-support date, here is what they posted on their blog.
Update – April 19, 12:55pm PDT
TweetDeck AIR, TweetDeck for Android and TweetDeck for iPhone will be removed from their respective app stores and will stop functioning on May 7. Our Facebook integration will also stop on May 7.
So it is time you move on to an alternative app. The official Twitter app is not bad actually since the latest update. Other alternatives include Carbon for Android, Plume, Tweetcaster.

I still use the native TweetDeck app for Windows. And I hope that it lasts longer than the mobile versions.
