Barely a few days after Qualcomm unveiled its new flagship processor, the Snapdragon 820, a benchmark of a Xiaomi device powered by the SoC, has been spotted on the benchmarking website, Geekbench.
According to the report, the phone has the MSM8996 chipset running on 4 ARMv8 cores (quad-core) @1.59 GHz, and is backed by 3GB of RAM.
The device has the codename Xiaomi Gemini, and could be the Xiaomi Mi 5. The codename Gemini appears to have been taken from the Zodiac signs once again, with the Mi 3/ Mi 4 sharing the Cancro (Cancer) nickname.
The Xiaomi Gemini clocked a score of 2140 in the Single-core tests, and an impressive 4762 in the Multi-core tests.
The benchmark also shows that the device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. This is the only part, which I find to be dubious, since in reality, Xiaomi’s latest MIUI, version 7, is still based on the outdated KitKat operating system.
