The technical specifications of Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship, the Mi 5, have been leaked online.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 will reportedly sport a 5.3-inch Quah HD Display, with a pixel density of 554 ppi.
The phone runs on the company’s lastest custom version of Android, MIUI7 based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, and will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC, with 4GB of RAM, while the graphics will be handled by an Adreno 530 GPU. The Mi 5 reportedly comes in two storage variants : 16GB/64GB, with no support for expandable memory whatsoever.
The device adorns a 16 megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash. The Xiaomi Mi 5 looks like a future proof device with a USB-Type C port for charging/data transfers and a fingerprint scanner, placed on the back.. The device packs in a 3,030 mAh battery, but still manages to measure up to just 5.3 mm thickness.
The leak reveals that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be priced very at a very affordable price tag, touted to be just under $400 USD.
If true, this would be one hell of a flagship phone. The Mi 5 is likely to be launched in the first quarter of 2016, with March looking like an ideal time, since Qualcomm is yet to make the Snapdragon 820 ready for OEMs.
