We are just a day away from Xiaomi official unveiling of its new flagship device Mi 8 at a launch event in China on May 31. When it comes to India, the company has avoided launching its flagship MI series smartphones and concentrated on the entry-level & mid-range devices from Redmi and Redmi Note series. The company though did launch their Mi Mix devices in India with the latest being the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 that is available in India.
It appears that this policy of not announcing the flagship Mi series in India is going to change soon after the launch of Xiaomi Mi 8. A new poster leaked on Xiaomi Reddit channel which appears like an official poster (presumably) suggests that the new flagship device will be available in the 8 countries (apart from China) during the first phase of its global launch.
These eight countries (that you can guess by looking at the images of popular destinations in the poster for different countries) are:
- India
- Egypt
- Spain
- Italy
- Thailand
- Russia
- Vietnam
- France
Mi 8 is rumoured to feature a 6.2-inch Full HD (1080×2280) 19:9 display powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor along with 6GB / 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage running MIUI 10. In terms of camera, it sports a dual camera module consisting of 20MP (f/1.7) and 16MP f/2.0 sensors, while on the front a 16MP f/2.0 shooter is there. It is backed by a 3,300 mAh battery. In terms of pricing, it is rumoured to be priced at CNY2,799 (around €370/$440) for the 6 GB RAM and 64 GB storage variant while the high-end version with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage for CNY3,199 or about €420/$500.
As with any other leak, take this with a pinch of salt. Stay tuned at Androidpure and we will keep you updated.
