Xiaomi’s scheduled launch event celebrating eight years of its existence appears to have loads of products up its sleeve that may be announced on May 31. At the moment, we have confirmations of Xiaomi Mi 8, Mi Band 3 and MIUI 10 announcements on the day of the launch event. It seems Xiaomi may announce one more device on the same day dubbed as Xiaomi Mi 8 SE which may be something like “Special Edition” in limited quantity celebrating their eight years (though we are not sure what SE actually means).
Reference to the “Xiaomi Mi 8 SE” name has surfaced on Chinese social network Weibo which suggest that the device may indeed launch on May 31. One of the references comes from 50 Yuan coupons, reproduced on Weibo which indicates that the coupon can be redeemed to buy the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE smartphone.
At the moment, we have no idea about the hardware specifications of Mi 8 SE. We can expect it to be similar to the flagship Mi 8 device but a bit toned down variant.
Based on rumours, Mi 8 may sport a 6.2-inch Full HD (1080×2280) 19:9 display powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor along with 6GB / 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage running MIUI 10. In terms of camera, it features a dual camera module consisting of 20MP (f/1.7) and 16MP f/2.0 sensors, while on the front a 16MP f/2.0 shooter is there. It measures 7.8mm in thickness and weighs ~172g and is backed by a 3,300 mAh battery.
