A set of Xiaomi Mi 8x leaked photos have been posted on Chinese social network, Weibo. And the images hint that the device will have an in-display fingerprint scanner.
This will be the fourth variant of the Mi 8, after the regular Mi 8, the Mi 8 Explorer and the Mi 8 SE, all of which were announced earlier this year.
Here are some alleged real life photos of the Mi 8x.
Apparently, the Xiaomi Mi 8x will have features from all the other variants. A leaked specsheet hints at 2 Xiaomi Mi 8x models. According to the leak, these phones have the codenames Xiaomi Sirius and the Xiaomi Comet. Oddly, the Mi 8 SE was also named Sirius.
The Xiaomi 8x Comet will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor, and equipped with an OLED screen which supports Always On display. The phone runs on Android Oreo 8.1, and has Dual SIM card slots, an IR Blaster, and packs a 3,100 mAh battery. The phone will not support NFC or have a microSD card slot. This is not odd, considering that all the other Mi 8 devices don’t support memory cards either.
The Xiaomi Sirius is exactly the same as the Comet, but for a few differences. The Xiaomi Mi 8x Sirius will have a notch display, supports portrait mode for the camera, and is backed by a 3120mAh battery. We think that this could be the higher end variant of the two models.
There is no ETA as to when the Xiaomi Mi 8x could be launched, but given that multiple colours of the device have been spotted, and Li Jun, the company’s CEO has also been pictured with the phone in his hand, it may not be long, before Xiaomi announces the device.
