The Mi A1 Android Pie Update has been released, and it brings a couple of important features. One of those isn’t mentioned in the change log, support for Dual 4G VoLTE.
One of our staff, Ashok, got the update on his phone using a VPN. He connected to a server in the Netherlands and was able to download the update. The update file size is approximately 1075MB in size and hence you should use a WiFi connection to download the update when it’s available.
The first thing he noticed was that Dual 4G VoLTE had been enabled. This is what he thinks about it, “The annoying “SIM is HD capable” notification is shown for 2 SIMs now. Jokes aside, we think that supporting Dual 4G VoLTE is a good move from Xiaomi.
Fans of the good old radio can rejoice because the Mi A1 Android Pie Update has added support for FM Radio.
Apart from this, Xiaomi says that the new firmware adds simpler ways to navigate the phone. The Mi A1 Android Pie Update will show you recommended apps and actions based on context, aka it uses machine learning to adapt to your usage.
The Mi A1 Android Pie Update also includes the December Security Patch from Google.
