A few days ago, we reported that the upcoming Mi Mix 3 could feature a pop-up camera. A new Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 leaked photo seems to confirm this theory.
This photo, which was outed on Chinese social network Weibo, gives us the first real look at the phone. The display is tall and has an 18:9 aspect ratio. But what it makes it standout really, as you can see, is the fact that the Mix 3 does not have a chin.
Its predecessors did have a large chin, and the selfie camera was placed awkwardly in it. That was done to give the devices a nearly full screen experience. This time around, Xiaomi has opted for a more proportional bezels design. Here is a picture of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 to compare.
There appears to be a case protecting the device, in the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 leaked photo. It isn’t really surprising, considering that the company does bundle in a free cover with the Mix devices. However, the case that is pictured here does give a false impression of slightly large bezels, but if you observe the image closely it seems that the bezels are negligible.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 leaked photo shows that the device is running MIUI 9, which is not the latest version of the company’s OS. It is possible that this was an early model or the picture was taken before MIUI 10 was made ready. The device has on-screen keys for the nav bar, and an earpiece which may act as a speaker. The power button and the volume rocker keys are on the right edge of the frame.
The Mi Mix 2 was launched in September 2017, and Xiaomi is sticking to a similar schedule for the upcoming flagship Mi Mix 3. We will keep you updated about further news about the device.
