During the recent launch of the Mi 3 smartphone, Mi India (Xiaomi) had announced that they will be launching the Redmi 1S phone in India, soon.
The Redmi 1S is the least inexpensive of the three phones which the company will sell in India, the other two being the Mi 3 (as mentioned above), and the Redmi Note.
The Redmi 1S was launched earlier this year in China as the Hongmi 1S. It sports a 4.7″ 720P HD Display, and is powered by a Quad Core 1.6GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor. It has 8 GB of internal Storage, which can be expanded up to 64 GB via a micro SD card slot. It has a Adreno 305 GPU and 1 GB of RAM.
The Redmi 1S has an 8 Megapixel camera on the rear and a 1.6 Megapixel Camera on the front. It also supports USB OTG (On-The-Go), so you can connect your OTG enabled pen drive directly, or with a cable, or even use a USB gamepad controller with the phone. The phone also supports FM Radio, packs a 2,000 mAH battery and will run on Android 4.3 optimized with MIUI.
