Yesterday, we reported about the teaser invite for a device launch, which was tweeted by Xiaomi India head, Manu Jain.
And our guess was right, as Xiaomi has officially launched the Redmi 2 in India.
The phone runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat with MIUI 6, and sports a 4.7-inch 720p HD IPS (1280x720p) Display with, Corning Gorilla Glass 2 and OGS.
It is powered by a 1.2GHz 64-Bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, an Adreno 306 GPU and 1 GB of RAM. The Redmi 2 comes with 8 GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 64GB via microSD. It features an 8 Megapixel rear camera with f2.2 aperturer and LED flash, and a 2 Megapixel front camera.
The Redmi 2 is a Dual SIM device, which supports 4G LTE networks on both SIMs. the phone is backed by a 2,200 mAh battery. The phone’s back is finely textured and matte-sprayed, and also fingerprint and grease-resistant.

The Xiaomi Redmi 2 has been priced at Rs. 6,999 and will be available exclusively on Flipkart from March 24 on a flash sale. Registrations for the sale begins from 6 PM today on Flipkart. The phone comes in two colours: White and Gray.
Xiaomi will launch another variant of the phone with 2GB RAM and 16 GB storage, but there is no concrete date for its launch yet. Today, Xiaomi has also launched the MiPad tablet in India for Rs. 12,999.
