Xiaomi’s next budget phone, the Redmi 4 could be heading for a launch soon. The company’s CEO did hint about more budget phone launches before the year ends.
German blogger Roland Quandt, spotted the Redmi 4 on popular benchmarking website, Geekbench, and it does spill some minor details about the phone.
It appears that the Redmi 4 will not be powered by a MediaTek chipset after all, for the leak clearly shows the chipset as MSM8953 which is the codenumber for Qualcomm Snapdragon 625. It is an octa-core processor, clocked at 2.02 GHz CPU, (4 x A53 + 4 x A53 cores). The device has 3GB of RAM, and the SoC comes with an Adreno 506 GPU.
Coming to the benchmark itself, the Redmi 4 scored 929 points in Single-core test, and 4751 in the Multi-Core test. This is double the score of its predecessor, the Redmi 3 (SD410 & 3GB) which scored 411 and 2185 in single and multi core tests. The Redmi 4 also outscores the Redmi 3S (SD430 & 3GB) which scored 683 and 3153 in recent tests.
Interestingly the Redmi 4 seems to run on MIUI based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, which is quite shocking.
