Xiaomi is set to officially unveil two new smartphones i.e. Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus at a launch event in Bejing China on December 7. Even though we are still a few days away from the official launch, the press renders of Redmi 5 / Redmi 5 Plus have surfaced on the web revealing the full design of the upcoming devices and confirming the earlier rumours about the full-screen display.
Looking at these press renders, you can clearly see the Full-Screen display with 18:9 aspect ratio with no home button at front suggesting on-screen navigation buttons instead of physical capacitive buttons. The fingerprint sensor (circular in shape)is present at the rear panel just below the main rear camera and LED flash. The main rear camera comes with a metallic ring around it for protection. The Mi branding is at the bottom of the rear panel. The lock screen clearly shows support for dual SIM cards.
The power button and Volume rocker buttons are on one side while the SIM tray is visible on the other side. On top, you can see the 3.5mm audio jack along with a noise cancelling microphone and IR blaster. AT the bottom, you get the micro USB port for charging and data transfer, along with speaker grills.
Redmi 5 / Redmi 5 Plus is rumored to be powered by either Snapdragon 625 chipset or Helio P20 by Mediatek along with three different RAM & internal storage combinations i.e. 2 GB +16 GB, 3 GB + 32 GB and 4 GB + 64 GB. It is expected to run on Xiaomi latest MIUI 9 based on Android 7 Nougat based operating system. In terms of camera, it is expected to feature a 12 MP main rear camera, while the front may come with a 5 MP sensor.
