Xiaomi had launched Redmi Pro last year in July in China and it seems that the next variant of the device is already in works. Redmi Pro sports a 5.5-inch OLED display with a 2.5D curved Glass with three variants, 1st being powered by 2.5 GHz deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 processor with 3GB RAM/32GB ROM, another with a deca-core Helio X25 processor with 3GB RAM/64GB storage, and a third with Helio X25 processor with 4GB RAM/128GB storage. In terms of camera, it comes with a 13 MP + 5 MP dual rear camera and a 5 MP front shooter. The device is backed by 4050 mAh battery.
Today, a new leak originating on Weibo gives us a sneak peek into upcoming Redmi Pro 2. The leak reveals the brief technical specifications, Render and pricing of the device. As per this leak, Redmi Pro 2 may be powered by Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 660 processor along with 6 GB of RAM & 128 GB of internal storage. In terms of camera, it may come with a 12 MP camera with Sony IMX362 sensor. The device may be backed by 4500 mAh battery.
In terms of pricing, the leak indicates two variants with 4 GB RAM + 64 GB ROM and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB ROM with a price of 1599 Yuan & 1799 Yuan respectively.
The images of the device leaked though doesn’t inspire much confidence. The leak may be fake and presence of a single camera at the back indicates a downgrade from the Redmi Pro dual camera setup. Also, the fingerprint sensor seems to be placed a the back below the camera which appears odd as fingerprint sensor in Redmi Pro is embedded with the front Home button.
At the moment, we have no official info on possible launching of the device. Even if Xiaomi plans to launch it, it may not occur before July 2017 considering the fact that existing variant was launched in July 2016.
Take this leak with a grain of salt. Stay tuned at Androidpure and we will keep you updated.
