Micromax subsidiary YU has started sending out Media invites for an event on May 19 for its upcoming launch. The invite reveals the name of YU’s next flagship device as Unicorn and claims to redefine flagship smartphones. The event is scheduled for 11 am onward in New Delhi, India. The invite clearly states “the phone that will redefine flagships“, and we will wait to get our hands on the device to see how good or bad the claim is.
Yu existing flagship smartphone is Yutopia powered by Cynogenmod OS, priced at Rs. 24,999, launched in December last year and didn’t get the traction that it needed. The last device launched by Yu is the Yureka note that launched last month on both offline and online channels.
At the moment, we have no information on Yunicorn hardware specifications or its price, but we expect it to be priced in the range of 15,000 – 20,000 rupees and to be powered by stock Android operating system instead of the Cynogenmod OS. As you may know that Cynogenmod OS is no longer exclusive for YU in India and even the founder of YU, Rahul Sharma has indicated in recent days that they may prefer the stock Android OS on their future smartphones.
