Asus had promised to roll out Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA update to its Zenfone smartphones in March itself, but Asus failed to meet that deadline. Finally now Asus has started to roll out Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA update to ZenFone 2 Laser ZE500KL smartphone, one of its Zenfone devices that were promised the Marshmallow update.
Keep in mind that ZenFone 2 Laser ZE500KL is the less popular 5 inch model and not the popular 5.5 inch Zenfone 2 Laser. The Model number for the 5.5 inch Zenfone Laser is ZE550KL and those users still need to wait for the update to arrive on their devices. But we hope that Asus has started rolling out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA update to one of the smartphones, hence it should arrive for other devices soon.
This update brings Android 6.0 Mashmallow to the smartphone, but internal storage may decrease slightly after update. Hence you should back up your data including media files such as pictures & video clips or anything else before starting the software update. The update though results in no support for APP2SD which means you cannot transfer your app installs to microsd card to save space on your phone storage. It also removes the multi-user function, but old accounts will keep working.
The Marshmallow update won’t pre-loaded many apps which we at Androidpure term as bloatware, once your device is upgraded to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). The long list of those apps can be found in the source link at the end of this post.
The update is rolling out in phases and hence will reach you in few days if you have not received the OTA update notification yet. To check manually, please go to Setting->About->System Update.
